during the fall of 1921 to be with his mother who was ill in Cantril,
Iowa. During that time, he was killed in an automobile-train collision.
These photographs of the funeral were sent to W.L. Powers by W. Cretcher

on the John Day Highway. The outfit, consisting of 16 matched mules
and 7 wagons, was owned by M.E. Weatherford and driven by L.T. (Monk)
Coffman. It hauled wheat from the Weatherford Ranch to Arlington,
making one round trip of 26 miles each day and hauling 270 sacks of

ROTC units at ROTC summer camp at Fort Lewis, Washington, in June-July,
1926. Fred Detering is in the back row (far left); Wes Schulmerich
is in 2nd row (far right). Frederick Herman Detering attended Oregon
Agricultural College during the 1923/24 academic year. These items
were delivered to the Archives by Mariana Mace, Director of the Jensen
Museum in Monmouth, on behalf of Fred Detering.

a musician or performer.
- 3438 Campus views, ca. late 1920s; 7 snapshot prints of campus buildings,
including lower campus, Benton Hall, Waldo Hall, Kidder Hall, and
Strand Agricultural Hall. The photographs were taken by Jack Southworth's
great-aunt Mabel, when she was a teenager visiting her brother who
was a student at Oregon Agricultural College. Jack Southworth donated
them to the E.R. Jackman Foundation, which transferred them to the
Archives in 1999.

9 postcard prints of the OAC campus including images of the Armory
Building (Gladys Valley Gymnastics Training Center), Waldo Hall, Agriculture

cadets, cadets marching on lower campus, and officers of the Kearney
Military Academy.
- 3440 Campus views, Homecoming events, 1929-1932; 20 snapshot prints
of campus buildings, including the Physics Building, the Dairy Building,
Weatherford Hall, the Agriculture Building, the Women's Building,
and the Memorial Union. Also included is an interior shot of Buxton
Hall, views of the campus grounds, and 5 images of the 1929 Homecoming
Game. Photographs taken by Vera Lysla Colbry, who graduated in 1931.

include the procession of graduates into Gill Coliseum, President
Byrne and other speakers at the commencement, and the graduates seated

- 3444 Athletic Fields on Lower Campus, ca. 1895-1900; 2 B&W prints.
Two images of an athletic field on lower campus with the Benton County
Courthouse visible in the background. Both of the photos appear to
be taken from the same spot on the top of a building near the Gymnastics
Building. The photos were taken on different days, possibly in different
years, with a game visible in one of the images. Donated by the Benton
County Historical Society and Museum.
- 3445 Campus and Corvallis Views, 1919; 46 B&W prints. Photographs
of various street scenes in Corvallis and the Oregon State Campus
collected and taken by alumnus John Crow. The images of campus depict
buildings as well as trees on campus covered with snow. The images
of Corvallis portray different parts of town after a snowfall including
two blocks in downtown, a destroyed lumber yard building, and a boarding
house. Donated by Crow's grandson, Tom Doane. (28 prints depicting
campus scenes from the same postcard series collected by Crow were
added (5/2/07) to the original accession of 18 photos.)
- 3446 Kappa Sigma Nu Fraternity, 1917; 6 B&W prints. Photographs
of the Kappa Sigma Nu Fraternity house and group shots of the members
collected by Harry Kraft, a member of the fraternity. The two group
shots are posed in front of the house and contain identifying information
on the back of the photographs. The four other images depict the interior
and exterior of the house. These photos were donated to the Archives
by Stephen Strahan, Kraft's grand nephew.

- 3447 Student Group Shots and Campus Views, ca. 1909-1910; 3 B&W
prints. Photographs of Oregon Agricultural College students in three
different posed group shots on campus: students in cadet uniforms
spelling out "OAC" on the lower fields of campus, the cast of an unidentified
theatre production on stage, and an image of graduating seniors on
the lawn in front of Benton Hall. These photos were collected by alumnus
Emil Carroll (1910) and donated to the Archives by son Bud Carroll
(1943). Emil is featured in the photo of the theatre actors as a policeman.
He is on the last person on the left.

prints. Photographs of various campus scene shots plus one image of
a gathering of family members with a graduated student after commencement.
The photos were taken by Oregon State System of Higher Education (OSSHE)
staff for use in publications.
- 3449 Kidder Hall; Campus and Theatre Views, 1937-39; 1 photograph
album and 1 print. Photograph album assembled by an unidentified student
which features various images of college campuses, parks, friends
and family members, coastal scenes, and indoor musical performances
throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, and Montana. Among
the photographs are a number of shots of the 1939 Portland Rose Festival
Grand Floral Parade. There are 12 images pertaining to OSU and Corvallis,
which include both exterior and interior shots of the Kidder Hall
Library and Shepard Hall, the Memorial Union, a residence on 12th
street, and performances in an unidentified theatre.
