Panoramic Photographs - Specialized Inventory
Panoramic photographic prints (or panoramas) are photographs that show a wide view produced
by either a wide angle lens, a rotating lens, a rotating camera, or by joining photographs
together.
The OSU Archives' holdings include more than 100 panoramic prints in a variety of collections.
This specialized inventory lists these images by collection.
Most of these images were made between 1910 and 1930 and represent a variety of subjects
including campus views, student groups and activities, athletic events, World War I era military
groups, reunions of Spanish-American War veterans, Summer Session attendees, 4-H summer
school and national conventions, and scenes of Corvallis and other towns.
Because of the size of these prints (ranging from 20 to 50 inches long), they are stored in
oversize containers and cabinets. Attentive care and caution should be used when handling these
materials because of their size and fragile condition.
For more information about panoramic photographs, see the Spring 1995 issue of the Archives'
newsletter, the OSU Record.
