Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of photographs of Camp Adair; engineering
reports (with photographs) about Camp Adair, Camp White (Medford,
Oregon), the Corvallis Airport, and McNary Field (Salem, Oregon);
and property appraisals of two Corvallis Sand and Gravel Company
sites.

Biographical Note
John Hubert Gallagher, Sr., was born 8 August 1875 in Carlton
(Yamhill County), Oregon. He entered Oregon Agricultural College
in 1895, but interrupted his education in May 1898 to enlist with
the 2nd Oregon U.S. Volunteers and fight in the Philippines during
the Spanish American War. Gallagher re-entered OAC in the Fall
of 1899 and graduated in engineering in 1900.
Gallagher was the first secretary of the Alumni Association; served
on the Board of Directors for many years; and was founder and
executive secretary of the Golden Jubilee Association. He was
active in the business and civic life of Corvallis; organized
and managed the Corvallis Sand and Gravel Company; and was a consulting
engineer for many Portland buildings and the Bonneville Dam. Gallagher
died 16 May 1961 in Corvallis.
