KOAC producers Bill Smith (left) and Les Mock (right) traveled throughout Oregon in the KOAC staff car equipped with a portable tape recorder to record special events for radio broadcast. [OSU Archives #598.] Sound RecordingsA variety of sound recordings are part of the Archives' holdings. These include productions by the Extension Service and the University's communications office as well as recordings of meetings, hearings, and special events. Even the 1956 Beaver yearbook includes an 8-inch phonograph recording, titled "Oregon State's Year in Sound". Although their formats often necessitate special storage considerations and they are stored separately from other materials, sound recordings are described as part of the Institutional Records, Manuscript Collections, or Oral Histories.
