Institutional Records

Permanent records created by university departments, offices, committees, or organizations include correspondence, annual and biennial reports, final research and special reports, policy statements and procedure manuals, meeting minutes, architectural drawings, and celebration and special event records. These materials document the development and functioning of Oregon State University since its establishment as a land-grant institution in 1868. They are organized into approximately 200 Record Groups (def) by originating college, department, office, or organization.

A list of all Records Groups is available for researchers. Summary descriptions and folder-level inventories of selected Record Groups are available as WWW files with hypertext links from the description and outline to the corresponding section of the folder-level inventory as well as links to descriptions of related materials. These descriptions include the dates of the materials, material types and subjects, volume (amount) and form (paper/microfilm). New descriptions and inventories will be added to this section as they are prepared.

You can also use the search engine below to search all the Record Groups. The search will give you a listing of Finding Aids (collection descriptions, series outlines, inventories) relevant to the subject requested. Click on a link, and then do a search on that page. In Netscape, click on the "Edit" menu and then to "Find" in the pull-down menu; you will again need to type in the subject you are searching. Click on "Find Next," the cursor will stop at your subject if it is found in the document.
