Tips for Successful Research

• Determine your subject.
• Do background reading on your intended subject, noting significant names, dates, events, formats, and any ideas you have for further research.
• Visit our website at OSU Archives for answers to many of your preliminary research-related questions.
• Write or call ahead so that you can properly plan your research visit.
• Ask us about the Northwest Digital Archives and records that may exist outside of our repository.
• During your research visit, keep good notes on the records you consulted so you can differentiate between multiple groups of records searched and your steps can be retraced if necessary.
