Tips for Successful Research

Determine your subject.

Do background reading on your intended subject, noting significant names, dates, events, formats, and any ideas you have for further research.

Visit our website at OSU Archives for answers to many of your preliminary research-related questions.

Write or call ahead so that you can properly plan your research visit.

Ask us about the Northwest Digital Archives and records that may exist outside of our repository.

During your research visit, keep good notes on the records you consulted so you can differentiate between multiple groups of records searched and your steps can be retraced if necessary.
