The holdings of the University Archives are open to faculty, staff, students, and the public for research. Reference assistance is provided by Archives staff to help determine the materials appropriate for specific research projects.

Where do I get help with my research?

You are encouraged to consult with staff members about your research needs and procedural questions. We provide a range of research service to on-site and remote researchers. For information about the collection or to make an appointment please contact us at (541) 737.2165 or archives@oregonstate.edu.

We will help identify sources of information relevant to your interests but cannot undertake extensive research projects. We limit staff research to one hour, with a $25.50/hour charge for any additional research. When extensive research is required to identify relevant material, we can refer you to an outside researcher for hire who establish his/her own rates.

Where do I find the Archives & what should I expect when I get there?

The Archives Reference Room is on the third floor of the Valley Library.

Patrons are required to comply with the OSU Archives & Maps Reference Room Policies , which are designed to protect archival materials for future use.

How do I get copies of historical materials?

The University Archives provides a variety of duplication services at cost, but reserves the right to restrict reproduction of materials due to condition, size, or donor requirements.

Permission must be obtained from the University Archivist to publish or permanently display reproductions of Archives materials. Users are responsible for observing all U.S. Copyright regulations. A Request for Permission to Publish or Use Reproductions of Materials from the OSU Archives form may be obtained from the Archives.
