1. Action Updates :

Behavior Workshop - Lorraine presented LAMP with our suggestions regarding behavior in the library resulting from the workshop.

  • Library Code of Conduct - LAMP would consider a code of conduct of the title was revised (less authoritarian), it involved students and it was minimal in size and detail. Penny will share the OSU Code of Conduct with the committee to see if a Valley version is desirable.
  • Follow-up Workshop - LAMP felt a follow-up might be useful. Susan will seek feedback from Valley staff by email in late October to determine if a follow-up is desired and if so, topics or activities that might be covered.
  • Incident Report Feedback - LAMP would like more details on what is desired from Library Administration regarding information concerning safety and security related incidents in the library. Need a process, specifity and consistency. Bryan will follow up with a proposal to the committee to determine if this is worth pursuing.
  • Theft Signage - LAMP agreed that alternating the design and color of theft warning signage would be beneficial. Bryan will contact Kerrie Cook about signage for fall term.

2. Disaster Plan Revision

Committee members shared their revisions including Archives information, personnel contact list, vendor contact list, building checklists and first aid/flashlight departmental reminder. Bryan will finish revising the document, share with the committee, and Penny will coordinate updating existing manuals. Bryan will also begin maintaining the staff room first aid kit.

3. Fire Drill and Extinguisher Training

Originally a fire drill and fire extinguisher training was being considered for fall intersession. Considering that the assistant building manager was recently hired and a fire alarm occurred this past spring, the next fire drill will be during summer intersession '05. Bryan will include information about fire extinguishers for new staff in a Safety informational email to Valley staff.

4. Action Review

  • Penny will share the OSU Code of Conduct with the committee
  • Susan will seek behavior workshop feedback from Valley staff by email in late October. Bryan will share information concerning the workshop.
  • Bryan will follow up with a incident report proposal to the committee.
  • Bryan will contact Kerrie Cook about theft signage for fall term.
  • Bryan will finish revising the Disaster Plan document, share with the committee, and Penny will coordinate updating existing manuals.
  • Bryan will maintain the staff room first aid kit.
  • Bryan will include information about fire extinguishers in a Safety informational email to Valley staff.
