1. Information Sharing :

  • Due to Lorraine’s departure, the Safety Committee will need a new LAMP liaison. The committee would like to have a management-level replacement but Kerrie Cook would be helpful as an interim representative. Lorraine will speak to Karyle about further options.
  • There is a need to move the Safety web site to the public server, so all library building employees can access it. Bryan will take care of this.
  • Bryan obtained an OK from Karyle to add the AUL’s as emergency contacts during evenings and weekends. Bryan will revise the emergency procedures.

2. Review Previous Action Items

  • The review of the Disaster Plan Recovery manual is going well. Should be completed by the end of August – early Sept.
  • Kerrie obtained permission from Karyle to add fire extinguisher location symbols to the kiosk floor plans. She will have a student employee attach the stickers.
  • Lorraine obtained permission from LAMP to proceed with Safety Week. The committee will keep LAMP informed on developments.

3. CPR/First Aid Training Procedures

  • After further review, the committee decided that the role of the Safety Committee should be informational – offer a process for obtaining training at the Dixon Recreational Center and keeping a list of currently certified employees to share with the rest of the building.
  • Interested employees would get departmental permission/cost coverage and sign themselves up for courses.
  • Kerrie will revise the sign up form and Bryan will revise the web page.

4. Safety Week Planning

The Committee began planning for Library Safety Week during the week of Sept. 12-16. Kerrie will provide a general timeline that Bryan will share with LAMP along with planned activities.

  • Kerrie will produce anti-theft posters (6) for the lobby and other areas of the library. The posters will remain through the 2nd week of fall term and possibly return during dead and final weeks.
  • A general announcement will be sent by email the Tuesday before Library Safety Week (9/6) and an announcement made during library in-service day.
