1. Disaster Plan Annual Review :

Time for the annual review of the Valley Disaster Preparedness Plan. Bryan will send out sections to be reviewed and committee members will volunteer. Goal to be finished by early September.

2. Safety Week 2006

The committee would like to promote Safety Week this year during the 2nd week of Sept (9/11 to 9/15). Kerrie will present the dates to LAMP.

Activities include:

  • Evacuation drill - will announce it will happen during Safety week but not what day or time to increase surprise factor.
  • CPR/First Aid training - Bryan will check with Dixon on summer training schedule. Library staff probably prefer in-house training.
  • Fire extinguisher training - always popular. Scheduled for Wed afternoon during Safety Week. Kerrie will check with Valery King on possibly inviting others from the OSU campus. Bryan will coordinate the activity.
  • Daily informational quizzes & prizes - Kerrie and Susan have volunteered again to coordinate this activity. May include site for earthquake quiz.
  • General informational/resource email - Bryan will send this out the week before Safety Week.
  • Display - Bryan and Penny(?) will work on an information display. Need to collect materials from campus safety and fire dept.
  • OSU Today information - Kerrie will check with Valery and what we may include.

3. Web Site Review

Each committee member will review the Safety website at http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/Valley/safety/ and submit ideas, revisions, etc.. by the next meeting in early August.

4. Emergency Procedures Review

Bryan will check on new OSU Emergency Procedures flyers. Bryan will add review information to Safety Week general info email.

5. Fire Doors Signage

Bryan will locate "Push" signage for the fire doors.

It was suggested that evacuation maps/info be placed near the emergency phones on each floor of the stairwells. Will continue this discussion at the next meeting.

6. First Aid Kit Maintenance

Question arose of who is responsible for maintaining department first aid kits. Current policy is that the supply staff would maintain their own first aid supplies. The Safety Committee will continue to check general staff areas (like the staff room). A reminder will be sent out for Safety Week.

Next meeting early August.
