1. Safety Week

  • The committee decided to have Safety Week during September 10-14. Kerrie will get OK from LAMP.
  • In-Service day is Wed, Sept 12th, so no activities planned for that day except e-mail daily quiz and tips.
  • No evacuation drill will be held on Tues, Sept 11th or Wed, Sept 12th.
  • There will be no fire extinguisher training this year (low attendance the last couple of years).
  • We will offer in-house CPR/AED/First Aid training again.
  • Need to come up with a more informative and attractive public display.
  • Open to new ideas for Safety Week.
  • We will meet again in early August to discuss details for Safety Week.

2. Disaster Plan Review

  • Time for the annual review of the library's Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Bryan will send out assignments for updates based on last years participation.
  • Penny has volunteered once again to update individual manuals when finished.
  • Bryan will update the online version.
  • Larry has offered his experience to update the section on material recovery.

3. Emergency Procedures Review

  • The committee will create a short reminder for employees in reporting emergency situations. Something like "Stay Calm, Assess the Situation, Call 911".
  • Will check with Archives to see if they have emergency procedures for there desk. Determined that Circ and Ref have similar procedures.
  • Reminder that the service desk that takes the emergency is responsible for reporting it.
  • Bryan will contact OSU safety departments to see if there are updated emergency flip charts available.

4. Library AED Purchase and Training

  • In April, Karyle approved the purchase of 2 AED's for the library based on the committee creating policies and procedures to be approved by Karyle.
  • The committee has a cost estimate from Sciatra Medical who other OSU departments have purchased from.
  • Likely locations for AED's are the Reference desk and 4th Floor Reception desk. They would only be used by OSU staff but would be easily accessible. Need to check on storage options.
  • Possible to have demonstration at in-service day by Dixon Rec.
