1. Action Item Review :
- The committee reviewed action items from the previous meeting.
- Bryan will revise the evacuation announcements with a statement to speak loudly into the microphone
- Karen will contact OSU Safety about 9-911 on the OSU Emergency Manual
2. Library Emergency Manual
Lorraine has made the revisions for the library addition to the OSU Emergency Manual. The library addition was printed on buff-colored paper to stick out and it should be added to existing manuals within the library. It was also decided that the new poison control phone number was not needed.
3. Committee Review Statement
Everyone agreed with Lorraine's committee purpose statement that was sent to Kevin Bokay for committee review. The statement will be added to the library safety web site by Bryan.
4. Disaster/Recovery Plan
- The committee reviewed the current plan with revisions
- Waiting for other departments within the library for input
- The plan will be placed on the web for review once the current revisions are completed
- Revisions include smoke damage, adding microforms and reviewing the supply & contact list.
- The plan will be reviewed annually beginning in July.
- Disaster Recovery Team members decision will be passed on to LAMP
- Action items include (due by Nov 16th):
- Karen: contact fire dept for responsibilities & actions, contact facilities for services provided, and contact facilities for local phone numbers
- Valery: share bibliog. resources from workshop, contact microfilm resources
- Laurel: contact transportation and cardboard boxes resources
- Bryan: contact frozen food lockers/freezers, photograph restoration and hydro thermometer resources
5. Nov 6th False Alarm
- The committee reviewed the false alarm on Nov 6th
- One observation is that one needs to speak loudly into the PA in order to overcome the noise of the building alarms. Bryan will add this to the PA announcement guide.
6. Emergency Evacuation Procedures
- Karen will send out an all-library announcement of the revised library emergency procedures on Nov 19th.
- The message will stress that there are no longer floor monitors - Access Services and Reference will cover any evacuations.
- Karen will place directions on the bull horns and distribute them
7. Fire Exit Training
Bryan McCampbell from OSU Safety will arrange for a library fire extinguisher training session between Dec 10-20 in the afternoon.
8. Flashlights
The committee decided not to invest in new flashlights at this time. The library has sufficient supplies.
9. Action Items
- Bryan will revise the evacuation announcements with a statement to speak loudly into the microphone
- Karen will contact OSU Safety about 9-911 on the OSU Emergency Manual
- The library addition to the OSU Emergency Manual will be added to all copies within the library
- Karen will place directions on the bull horns and distribute them
- Bryan will add the Library Safety Committee purpose statement to the web
- Lorraine will continue to revise the Disaster/Recovery Plan and other members will review the contact & resource list as described in agenda # 4
- Karen will send out an all-library announcement of the revised library emergency procedures on Nov 19th
- Karen will arrange with Bryan McCampbell from OSU Safety for a library fire extinguisher training session between Dec 10 - 20 in the afternoon
