1. General Information :
- The committee welcomed Lorraine as chair
- Shared information on a committee charge
2. Representative Membership
- The committee recognized that there are 7 different work areas or groups within the library building - Access Services, Reference, CMC, Webworks, Community Network, DCE and Administration.
- Ideally would like a representative from all areas.
- Lorraine will contact the areas that are not currently represented on the committee.
3. Disaster/Recovery Plan
The Disaster/Recovery plan needs to be updated as well as its membership. Karen will share the current plan by next Thursday.
4. Emergency Manual
- The committee agree to review the Emergency Manual by next meeting.
- Floor monitor designations need to be revised including area designation and evening/weekend.
- Need to consider training and drills.
- The PA announcement to clear the building during emergencies is being finalized. Issues include moving patrons away from the building, and what to do with laptops that are checked out.
- Decided that since the laptops were checked out to an individual, they should take the laptop with them when they exit the building. Labels could be attached to the laptops to describe this procedure to the patron.
- Valerie will check with the Reference Workgroup.
- Fire extinguishers - to use or not to use?
- Karen will place a work order to Facilities for PA backup power.
5. OSU Emergency Manual
New OSU Emergency Manuals will be distributed throughout the library by Karen.
6. Other Issues
- Flashlights and reflective tape
- Committee Charge - parameters
- Security reports sent to library staff
- PA backup power source information
- Maps indicating alarms, exits, first aid kits, flashlights, manuals, etc.
